What concerns me is not the way things are, but rather the way people think things are.

It is the responsibility of leadership to work intelligently with what is given, and not waste time fantasizing about a world of flawless people and perfect choices.

There are more things, Lucilius, likely to frighten us than there are to crush us; we suffer more often in imagination than in reality.

We are more often frightened than hurt; and we suffer more from imagination than from reality.
